Happy 25th Birthday To Tom Wilson aka Tommy Playoffs aka Stanley Cup Champion Tom Wilson
It is insane this dude is only 25 years old. I feel like I met him 10 years ago, but that wouldn’t make any sense at all. Not enough can be said about how SCCTW has developed as a player. He went from being drafted in the first round directly to the Caps, never playing a game in the AHL. His growth was a bit stunted at first- forced to play 4th line minutes and made into a fighter without getting a chance to show the skill he was drafted for. In retrospect, some time in Hershey probably would have been fine, but he was already so big that he would have just dominated there. But slowly but surely his full game came around, first being a dominant penalty killer, and then last year in the playoffs, a feared goal scorer. He had 15 points in 21 playoff games, and then picked up right where he left off this season.
All the haters and losers are dead silent now as he has 22 goals and 39 points in only 59 games. The “he’s just a plug” squad is nowhere to be found. Man, they were so cocky and so confident too. I tried to tell them, boy did I try. And I’ve never been more right about anything and they have tucked their tails and gone home.
And now the most feared man in the NHL is finally a real adult at the age of 25. He is locked up long term in DC and as a 20+ goal scorer is only entering his prime. Pens, Flyers, and Islanders fans are shook.
So HBD big guy. Thanks for doing that thing where you helped the Caps win the Cup. That was really cool of you. Do it again this year if you could. Thanks.
